Location of the event
The start area of the DuPont Endurance Challenge will be at Sellers Park, Dupont, Washington. The race will be run on a trail that is 2.25 miles per loop. The trail is mostly dirt (85%) with a few sections of asphalt (15%). The elevation gain per lap is approximately 65 feet, and the course is gently rolling. The race is located in the city of Dupont and I've designed the race such that you would never know you're in the middle of the city.

Race Day Info.
The DuPont Trail Marathon Association is excited to be putting on the Pacific Northwest first 72 hour event. We look forward to assisting all the athletes as they start the race and go for their goals. The start of the race will be in Sellers Park, 600 Barksdale Ave., Dupont, WA. This is where athletes will pick up their bib sand check in, this will start at 1030 near the pavilion in the park. At 1130 there will be a mandatory race briefing and an introduction to the staff that will be assisting you during the race. Please be mindful that if you start after Thursday that there will be athletes on the course, so do your best not to interfere with any of the athletes that are currently participating. The race will start at 12 o’clock down by the pavilion.

The city of Dupont has given me permission to allow athletes to camp in the park. In order to camp in the park you will need to get a permit from the race staff, this permit should be placed on the outside of your tent. The DuPont Police Department may come by and check to make sure you’ve got a permit on your tent and any tents without a permit may be removed.

The aid station area will consists of a timing area that will take up part of the pavilion. The aid station tent will have food for athletes 24 hours a day for the 72 hours of the race. If you require a vegetarian diet please email me at [email protected] and we will do our best accommodate your needs. There will be a warming tent that will be operational from sundown to sun up. There will be a warming area in the pavilion during the day should the temperature be cool. Meals will be from 1 to 2 o’clock starting on Thursday. The next meal will be from 7 to 8 in the evening and then a snack at 1 to 2 in the morning. Breakfast will begin at 8 to 9.

The weather in Washington this time year can be very unpredictable. I always say hope for the best and plan for the worst. The average high in October is 60° with the low in the 40s so please plan accordingly with regards to your gear and remember cotton is rotten. There is a chance you may get rained on during the race so be prepared with rain gear.

The trail will be very well marked, with course markings about every 20 to 25 yards. At night you will be required to wear a headlamp. The trail will be marked at night with reflective tape that you will be able see from 100 yards away with a headlamp. The course will have signs and or lighting at any major turns or areas that may cause confusion. Please remember that the trails you are running on are not closed, meaning you will see people not affiliated with the race on the course, just beware and be courteous, you do not own the trail. That being said, please respect the environment, if you have trash, please dispose of it in the appropriate trash receptacle, do not litter. Littering could be cause for removal from the race.

The course will consist of areas of single track trail and areas of trail that are 6 to 8 feet wide. Beware that there will be a section of the course, approximately half a mile, that will be two-way. You will have plenty time during the day to get familiar with this area of trail. There will be no sections of the trail that are underwater, and if it rains the trail generally drains very well. There will be a section of the course that runs through an area that I call the swamp, please be careful going through this area it is about a third of a mile and on either side of the trail are blackberry bushes.
